Jamal Black Arrested for 2nd-Degree Murder of Tyrone Howard

19-year-old charged after fatal shooting on Emerson Avenue South

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Police have arrested Jamal Black, 19, in connection with a fatal shooting on Emerson Avenue South that occurred on September 7th.

Detectives took Black into custody Tuesday morning after an investigation into the shooting of 21-year-old Tyrone Howard. Black has been charged with second-degree murder and four counts of violation of felony probation.

The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 7th, when Howard was driving a vehicle that crashed into a parked car at Robco Transmission & Auto, located at 3101 Emerson Avenue South.

First responders found Howard with a gunshot wound near the 2900 block of Emerson Avenue South. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital but later died from his injuries.

Black is currently held without bond as the investigation continues.
