LINCOLN, Neb. — A Lincoln man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for a major drug distribution conviction.
Jamaal McNeil, 48, received the sentence after being found guilty of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The sentence was enhanced due to a prior conviction for a serious drug felony.
Following his prison term, McNeil will serve 10 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Court documents show McNeil sold methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana in Lincoln for at least six months in 2023. On Nov. 29, 2023, Lincoln police officers contacted McNeil while he was inside his vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted after officers detected the odor of marijuana.
During the search, officers found six bags of cocaine, six bags of methamphetamine, three bags of marijuana, four hydrocodone pills and $853 in cash on his person.
Authorities later executed a search warrant at McNeil’s Lincoln residence. Investigators recovered approximately 180 grams of methamphetamine, more than 212 grams of a substance containing meth, over 50 grams of cocaine, at least six grams of cocaine base, additional marijuana products, digital scales and $2,495 in cash.
McNeil previously was convicted in 2007 in federal court in Omaha for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Lincoln Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
