In a decisive move under Operation Dawn 2.0, police in Longding district arrested a woman for possession of 23.3 grams of suspected brown sugar, reinforcing their aggressive stance against drug trafficking in the region.
Based on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector C. Jingdam, accompanied by Executive Magistrate Bini Shiva and DySP (HQ) Mape Zirdo, was dispatched to the UD Complex area of Longding town on June 3.
At the scene, they intercepted a woman behaving suspiciously. Upon questioning, she identified herself as Jalih Wangsa of Longkai Village, originally from Tissa. A search led to the discovery of two soap cases containing the contraband substance.
The suspected brown sugar was seized on the spot in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, strictly following procedures under the NDPS Act.
A formal case was registered at Longding Police Station (LDG/PS/Case No. 32/2025 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act), and Wangsa has been taken into custody.
The arrest was made under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Longding District, as part of the state’s continuing crackdown on narcotics.
Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from Arunachal Pradesh.
