by Sophia Bennett

Jalen Reed, 25, of Rock Island, has been sentenced to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections following his guilty plea to an amended count of armed robbery, a class A felony.

Court records from Rock Island County show Reed entered a negotiated plea, resulting in the dismissal of charges for aggravated battery and felon in possession of a firearm at sentencing. Reed also waived his rights to a presentence investigation and a hearing in mitigation.

Reed was originally arrested in December 2024 on multiple charges including felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm, and armed robbery. The judge issued the 16-year sentence based on the plea agreement.
