In a major breakthrough against an interstate fake degree racket, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Commissioner Swapan Sharma, has apprehended another key suspect involved in the fraudulent scheme.

According to Commissioner Sharma, the police dismantled an interstate gang operating in the scam, which has been running for some time. As part of their investigation, authorities seized 196 counterfeit degrees from two previously arrested individuals, Hardeep Singh and Jagdeep Singh. The duo had been arrested after police raided a property in Jalandhar and discovered the fake degrees.

The case was initially registered as an FIR on September 28 at the Sadar Jalandhar police station. The charges filed under various sections of the BNS and the PTPR Act further implicated the arrested individuals in the scam. The latest arrest in this case is Sam, also known by aliases Bharam Raj and Sunny Gujral. He is a travel agent and the owner of Gujral Consultants and Immigration Services, which is based in Bedi Paradise near Jalandhar’s bus stand.

Sam’s arrest comes amidst the ongoing investigation, and notably, he already faces two additional cases in different police stations across the city. The authorities are continuing to probe the case to uncover more members of the racket and stop their illegal operations.
