The Jalandhar rural police have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking, registering multiple cases under the NDPS Act. Three individuals were arrested across the district, and heroin and intoxicating tablets were seized.
In the first incident, a police team led by SI Gurnam Singh, patrolling near the Bhallolwal canal area, intercepted Vikram Singh from Dharmiya Chhana village. A search revealed 10 grams of heroin, resulting in charges under Sections 21(B), 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the drugs and any potential distribution network.
In a second case, Mehatpur police apprehended Sandeep Kumar, alias Sipa, and Parmjeet Singh, alias Pamma, both residents of Bulanda village. Police recovered 30 intoxicating tablets from them. The arrests were made under Sections 22, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and the drugs were confiscated.
Authorities confirmed that all actions were conducted following legal procedures. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to uncover wider connections within the drug trade in the district.
