Jakyieh Burney Arrested for Robbery, Drug Charges

Manhattan teen faces robbery and drug possession

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery and drug possession in Manhattan, Kansas, according to local authorities.

Riley County police responded to a report around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 500 block of Osage Street. Officials said a 24-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were the victims in an incident where the suspect allegedly struck one of them and stole a vape pen.

On Wednesday at approximately 8:13 p.m., police arrested Jakyieh Burney, 19, of Manhattan, in connection with the case. He was charged with aggravated robbery, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burney is being held in the Riley County Jail on a $50,000 bond, where he remained as of Thursday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
