LOEI, Thailand — Jaksin Jaroensuk, 26, has been arrested for the murder of an LGBTQIA+ couple in Huai Som sub-district, Phu Kradueng, after claiming he acted in self-defense.
Police were called around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, when neighbors discovered the bodies of 69-year-old Pranom and 65-year-old Winai inside their home. Both men had severe wounds, and officers found a crowbar and a one-meter billhook knife, believed to be the murder weapons. Signs of ransacking and theft were also evident.
Residents suspected the victims’ nephew, Jaksin Jaroensuk, who had been staying with the couple temporarily. Police later tracked him down outside a local restaurant riding a stolen motorcycle belonging to the victims. A search uncovered 79 methamphetamine pills, 5,000 baht in cash, and Pranom’s personal belongings, including his ID and bankbook.
During interrogation, Jaksin claimed he acted in self-defense, alleging that Pranom tried to sexually assault him. He said he first attacked Pranom, who ran to Winai for help, and then struck Winai with a crowbar. He reportedly continued assaulting Pranom with both the crowbar and billhook knife until both men were dead.
Police also allege Jaksin stole 7,000 baht from Pranom’s bag, using 2,000 baht to buy meth, which he later shared with a friend before his arrest.
He now faces multiple charges, including intentional murder, night-time theft in a dwelling, possession of Category 1 narcotics, and drug use.
