A man, Jakir Ali Mallik, who had been deceiving people with promises of custom-made gold ornaments, was apprehended by the Hubballi Town Police after a lengthy pursuit that lasted 15 days. Jakir, a resident of West Bengal, had tricked several victims, including Sadik Ahmed Gadavale, into giving him valuable gold and cash for the creation of personalized gold jewelry, only to disappear once the items were handed over.
The most significant incident occurred when Jakir Ali collected 140 grams of gold and Rs2.87 lakh in cash from Sadik Ahmed, under the false pretense of crafting unique ornaments. After taking the valuables, Jakir vanished, and it wasn’t until recently that Sadik filed a complaint with the police.
Under the leadership of PSI Vinod Dodalingappanavar, a dedicated team from the Town Police Station began their search for the fraudster. They traced Jakir’s movements to West Bengal, where he had been hiding for months. Despite the challenge, the team persisted, and after a 15-day investigation, they finally captured Jakir Ali Mallik.
The police team, under the guidance of ACP Umesh Chikkamath and Inspector Mohammad Rafiq Tahsildar, traveled over 6,000 kilometers to bring Jakir to justice. Their tireless efforts led to the discovery of more victims. Jakir had scammed 29 individuals, amassing over 370 grams of gold jewelry and Rs14 lakh in cash while making false promises of creating gold ornaments.
Jakir, now in police custody, has started revealing the details of his fraudulent activities, shedding light on the extent of the scam. The officers’ unwavering dedication to the investigation, despite the personal sacrifices they made during their travels, is being hailed as a remarkable achievement in the fight against fraud.
