DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — A Fyffe couple was arrested after stolen wakeboards were discovered being sold on Facebook Marketplace, leading to theft and receiving stolen property charges.
On June 12, two wakeboards were reported stolen from a boat on County Road 400. The victim later spotted the boards listed for sale online and alerted Fyffe Police.
Investigators from Fyffe Police, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, and a county investigator tracked the wakeboards to a local residence, where they found the boards outside a porch.
Jake Ryan Carter, 27, admitted to stealing the wakeboards and was arrested and booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center. His wife, Kristie Nicole Carter, 28, was charged with receiving stolen property after authorities learned she posted the wakeboards for sale and knew about the theft.
Additional stolen items were recovered during the investigation and will be returned to their owners. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case to recover more stolen property.
