CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Alyson Elien, marking a major development in a disturbing homicide case that unfolded Sunday evening in Cambridge.
Jakai Wilson, 15, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Tuesday evening, found seated in the back of a vehicle. Following a detailed investigation, Cambridge Police arrested Wilson and charged him with an extensive list of violent offenses.
Wilson faces the following charges:
First- and second-degree murder
Four counts each of conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder
First- and second-degree assault
Four counts each of conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault
Firearm use in a violent crime
Possession of a loaded handgun on person
And multiple additional offenses
He is currently being held without bond.
Details of the Incident
The investigation began just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, when Cambridge Police responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of Camelia Street. Upon arrival, officers found a man—later identified as Alyson Elien, 23, of Seaford—lying outside a vehicle in a driveway with a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers attempted life-saving measures until Dorchester County EMS transported Elien to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
At the scene, police recovered a handgun and additional evidence. Investigators have stated that multiple accomplices are believed to have been involved and criminal charges for additional suspects are pending.
Disturbing Community Response Captured on Video
Surveillance footage from the area reportedly shows a large group of community members surrounding the victim, but no one rendered aid. Several individuals were seen entering the victim’s car and removing items, as well as apparently taking belongings from the victim as he lay on the ground.
The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to identify and charge all involved parties.
