Jaipur police have arrested a woman, her lover, and his friend for the brutal murder of her husband in a case reportedly inspired by crime shows such as CID.
The victim, 35-year-old Manoj Kumar Raigar, was discovered near a football ground earlier this month, with his throat slit by a sharp weapon. The shocking crime left the city shaken.
Despite initial challenges due to a lack of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage near the crime scene, police utilized surveillance from surrounding areas to identify the suspects. Their investigation soon focused on the victim’s wife, Santosh, her lover Rishi Srivastava, and his friend Mohit Sharma.
Santosh allegedly admitted during interrogation that she had taken ideas from popular crime series to plan the murder, including the use of new SIM cards to avoid detection. Police connected the dots after spotting a person near the victim in an e-rickshaw on CCTV footage, leading to the arrest of all three suspects.
“This was a premeditated murder, not a robbery. The accused slit the victim’s throat and left his body roadside. Santosh confessed to drawing inspiration from crime shows like CID,” said a police official.
All three accused are currently in custody and further forensic investigations are underway.
