The crime branch of Jaipur police arrested a 39-year-old drug trafficker, Ram Rup Mali, on Monday after recovering 530 grams of smack worth Rs 1.6 crore from his possession, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Kundan Kanwariya, stated that Mali, a resident of Sawai Madhopur district, had been under surveillance for some time before being intercepted near Kho Nagoriyan. He had been supplying drugs to local distributors tied to larger trafficking syndicates for the past few months.
During interrogation, Mali admitted sourcing the narcotics from Sanu Khan, a resident of Aklera in Jhalawar district. He revealed his involvement in supplying smack in Jaipur over the last 2–3 months and working under prominent local traffickers including Ashok alias Telia Sansi, Vicky Sansi, and Pintu Sansi.
Mali reportedly supplied drugs twice a month and used the e-Mitra platform to transfer payments to Jhalawar-based suppliers to evade detection. The money earned was used to fund his personal lifestyle and hobbies.
Police are now working to trace the larger network operating between Jhalawar and Jaipur, aiming to locate other suspects and financial channels involved in this illicit drug trade.
