West Odessa, TX – A West Odessa man is facing serious charges after confessing to breaking into a neighbor’s home early Thursday morning, believing his girlfriend was inside.

According to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a suspicious person report around 4 a.m. in the 11000 block of West Martaca. Upon arrival, they encountered 39-year-old Jaime Osbaldo Pineda exiting a nearby home holding a metal pry bar.

Pineda immediately surrendered, placing his hands in the air and admitting to officers that he had broken down the door. He then placed the pry bar in a toolbox inside his truck.

The home’s residents had barricaded themselves inside their rooms using dressers to protect themselves from the intruder, according to the police report.

Pineda was arrested on two counts of burglary with intent to commit another felony. He was booked into the Ector County Jail, where his bail was set at $150,000.
