Mail Theft Attempt Ends in Crash and Foot Chase in Bloomfield Township
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A routine mail theft attempt escalated into a crash and a foot chase, ending in the arrest of three suspects on May 5, 2025.
At around 1 p.m., Bloomfield Township Police received a 911 call reporting a blue Chevrolet Malibu stuck in a ditch near Wuarton and Wing Lake Roads. A witness informed officers that a man, later identified as Jailyn Joe Jackson, was seen removing a package from a mailbox.
When the witness confronted Jackson, a nearby vehicle honked its horn. Jackson returned the package and re-entered the car, which then drove into a ditch while attempting to turn around in a driveway.
Police identified the driver as Aliza Armonie Braggs and the second passenger as Ernell Karhl Ware Jr. All three fled the scene on foot but were quickly located and arrested by patrol units.
The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office charged each individual with one count of attempted mail theft, a six-month misdemeanor. On May 8, all three appeared before the 48th District Court, where Braggs received a $15,000 personal bond, while Jackson and Ware Jr. were given $5,000 bonds with 10% surety.
Police continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity, particularly involving mail or package theft.
