Three Rochester residents have been arrested in connection to a jewelry store robbery that took place at The Mall at Greece Ridge on January 6, 2025. Jahrusalem Smith, 30, Destiny Allen, 41, and Michael Ruiz, 28, were taken into custody on February 5, 2025.
According to police, a group of eight suspects entered the mall on the day of the robbery, wearing masks and gloves. Six of the suspects targeted Dubai Jewelry, while two stayed near the entrance. The thieves jumped over the counter and used a baseball bat to smash display cases, stealing around $90,000 worth of jewelry.
During the robbery, a Wilmorite security officer confronted the suspects but was threatened with a baseball bat. Another security officer narrowly avoided being struck by a bat thrown by one of the suspects.
The robbers fled in a dark Chevrolet Malibu, which was later found abandoned on Lang Street in Rochester. Police tracked down two vehicles linked to the robbery.
A SWAT team from the Greece and Rochester police departments, assisted by New York State Police, executed a high-risk search warrant at a residence on Remington Street in Rochester on February 5. During the searches, law enforcement recovered significant physical evidence and arrested the three individuals.
All three suspects—Michael Ruiz, Jahrusalem Smith, and Destiny Allen—are facing charges of robbery, grand larceny, and criminal mischief.
