Jahi Pope Indicted in Fatal Buffalo Shooting

Getzville man faces murder charges after July 2024 death

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Jahi Pope, 23, of Getzville, has been indicted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on July 29, 2024, in Buffalo’s Genesee-Moselle neighborhood. The incident occurred on the 1400 block of Broadway near Liddell Street, where 19-year-old Naszair E. Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pope faces charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is currently being held without bail. Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the indictment, and Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell will prosecute the case.

If convicted, Pope could face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and a court date has not yet been scheduled.
