The Kukatpally police arrested 43-year-old Jaggavarapu Brahma Gnana Prasanna for allegedly murdering her husband and attempting to stage it as a suicide.
Prasanna was married to J Sudheer Reddy, and the couple lived in an apartment in Kukatpally. On December 24, she allegedly strangled him with a scarf. She later informed relatives that Sudheer Reddy had taken his own life.
Police, acting on a complaint, registered the case as a suspicious death and sent the body for autopsy. The body was later released to the family for final rites.
In mid-January, the autopsy confirmed that Sudheer Reddy had died due to strangulation. Based on these findings, the police launched a formal investigation and took Prasanna into custody.
During interrogation, she confessed to killing her husband, citing alleged harassment as her motive. She has been officially arrested and remanded by the authorities.
