DANVILLE, Va. – A suspect wanted in connection to a fatal shooting at a Danville gas station was captured hundreds of miles away in Louisiana over Easter weekend, authorities confirmed.
21-year-old Jaelynn Lowen was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting 47-year-old Pinakin Patel in the parking lot of an Exxon on April 17, 2025. Danville Police responded to the scene where they found Patel suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.
Lowen reportedly fled the scene in a van, prompting a multi-state search. He was eventually located and arrested in Louisiana and is now awaiting extradition back to Virginia.
“Lowen was arrested in Louisiana and will be extradited back to Danville,” said a Danville Police Department spokesperson.
Lowen also faces an additional charge for use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In a related arrest, 21-year-old Keontae Tarpley was taken into custody the same day in Danville and charged with accessory after the fact.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of events surrounding the fatal shooting.
