LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Jacob Lee Roeder, 48, and David A. McGill, 42, both residents of Louisville, were arrested on September 2 in connection with a series of communications wire thefts in Southwest Louisville Metro. The duo faces charges including receiving stolen property, criminal mischief involving tampering with key infrastructure, and trespassing on key infrastructure assets. Additionally, McGill is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Roeder was also wanted on three probation violation warrants.
According to arrest records, Louisville Metro Alcoholic and Beverage Control (ABC) detectives apprehended the suspects during an ongoing investigation. Mayor Craig Greenberg’s office noted that ABC detectives, alongside LMPD 3rd Division detectives, formed a task force targeting theft of critical communications infrastructure in Louisville’s Riverport area.
The men were caught at the scene in McGill’s pickup truck. McGill reportedly admitted involvement with Roeder in two other wire thefts on Distribution Drive and Intermodal Drive.
Both Roeder and McGill were booked into Louisville Metro Corrections and arraigned on September 3. McGill’s bond was set at $5,000 cash, with home incarceration if posted, while Roeder’s bond was $2,500 cash. They are scheduled to return to court on September 11.
