GREENE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) — A week-long manhunt ended Tuesday night when deputies arrested 32-year-old Jacob Lowell Smith, a person of interest in the killing of two women in Fulton County.
According to Fulton County Sheriff Jake Smith, the arrest was made around 8 p.m. on Oct. 28 through the joint efforts of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Paragould Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and U.S. Marshals.
Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder said Smith was located in Oak Grove Heights, just north of Paragould, before being taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Detention Center.
The victims, Tonya Stallings, 54, and Ashley Stallings, 33, were found dead at their home in Ash Flat on Oct. 21. Authorities identified Smith as a person of interest two days later, prompting an extensive multi-agency search.
“Many agencies involved have spent countless hours over the days since the discovery of the crime,” said Sheriff Jake Smith, confirming that the investigation remains ongoing.
