Poncha Springs, CO — Jacob Lee Phillips, 30, of Poncha Springs, was arrested on June 5 by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office following a drug investigation that led to multiple charges, including possession of cocaine.

According to a press release issued June 10 by Sheriff Andy Rohrich, the arrest stemmed from a coordinated effort by the sheriff’s investigators unit, the High-Impact Traffic (HIT) team, and deputies. A search at Phillips’ residence in the 400 block of Chipeta Avenue uncovered 3.7 grams of cocaine and two debit cards not registered to him.

Phillips was booked into the Chaffee County Detention Center with a bond set at $5,000. He faces the following charges:

Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance

Two counts of criminal possession of a financial transaction device

Possession of less than 4 grams of cocaine

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Sheriff Rohrich praised the effectiveness of the newly formed HIT team, noting their dedication to removing drugs from the community. “The HIT Team is determined to rid the streets of drug dealers and the poison they are pushing,” Rohrich said. “This is one of many successful arrests they’ve made.”

Authorities emphasized that Phillips is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
