Bowling Green police responded Monday to the 800 block of Sixth Street following a reported theft from a motor vehicle.
The victim called authorities after spotting a man, later identified as 21-year-old Jacob Flugga from Bloomdale, fleeing north on foot. The caller confronted Flugga upon discovering their vehicle open and unlocked. The caller and her fiancé pursued him on foot into the 800 block of Third Street, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.
Officers arrived at approximately 12:01 a.m. and spoke with the caller and her fiancé, who witnessed the incident and chased Flugga until losing sight of him. The caller noticed the interior lights of her vehicle were on, the door ajar, and belongings scattered inside.
The victim reported that a Moissante ring and a pair of JBL earbuds were missing from the vehicle. Police searched the area and saw a man matching the description enter a car in the 800 block of Second Street.
Returning to the 800 block of Sixth Street, officers found three other vehicles with their doors open and glove boxes ajar, though no items were reported stolen from those cars.
Flugga was arrested on charges of theft from a motor vehicle and three counts of criminal mischief. He was taken into custody.
