Three Jacksonville men were arrested on Thursday after they were caught fleeing Flagler County deputies in a stolen silver Corvette. Kameron White, 19; Baqer Peake, 20; and Kyle White, 21, were charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, and resisting an officer without violence.
The incident began when the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office alerted Flagler County deputies that a stolen Corvette had entered the area. Deputies spotted the unoccupied Corvette at a gas station in Palm Coast and waited for the suspects to return. When two men exited a nearby store and saw deputies, they jumped into a Nissan and fled.
Deputies pursued the Nissan with the help of FireFlight helicopter tracking the vehicle’s movements. After successfully deflating the Nissan’s tire with stop sticks, the suspects continued fleeing for nearly 1.5 miles before stopping. The three men fled into a nearby neighborhood, but deputies quickly apprehended Kameron White and Baqer Peake with assistance from the helicopter and K-9 units.
After a brief search, deputies also arrested Kyle White. During the arrest, a backpack containing burglary tools was found next to the Nissan. The men were wearing masks to conceal their identities, which led to enhanced charges.
Kameron White, the driver, was additionally charged with fleeing with disregard for safety and is being held on $52,000 bond. Peake faces additional charges of possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, with a bond set at $35,000. Kyle White is being held on a $32,000 bond.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly praised the teamwork of all agencies involved in the swift arrest, calling the suspects “dirtbags” who thought they could escape justice. The case highlights the determination of law enforcement in apprehending those involved in vehicle theft and evading arrest.
