Jackson Murphy Cartner, a 26-year-old resident of Hallman Mill Road in Vale, was arrested on April 4 by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers on multiple charges following a series of break-ins and vehicle thefts.
Cartner faces two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, as well as single counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The incident began when authorities responded to a reported break-in on West NC 27. Deputies and detectives discovered another nearby property had also been broken into, with a vehicle reported stolen. Investigators obtained surveillance footage from a local business that identified Cartner as the suspect and captured his vehicle, a newer Nissan Rogue, which was seen on camera.
Later that day, a local business employee contacted authorities after recognizing the suspect vehicle and reporting it to be on Hallman Mill Road. Deputies located both the suspect vehicle and the stolen vehicle at a residence in Cleveland County. Cartner was arrested, and all stolen items, including the vehicle, were recovered and returned to the rightful owners.
Cartner is currently held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $46,000 secured bond. His District Court hearing is scheduled for April 29.
