Garon Nathaniel Killian, 20, of Berkley Street S.W. in Lenoir, and Kylee Latod Simpson, 18, of Liberty Church Road in Hickory, were arrested early Sunday morning (April 6) by Hickory Police. They each face seven felony counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. In addition, they were charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits and going armed to the terror of the people.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Catawba Valley Boulevard S.E., near the former Party City store. The victims in the case are a 35-year-old male from Morganton, a 35-year-old male from Newton, and a 27-year-old female from Newton. At the time of their arrests, both suspects were found in possession of handguns.

Police apprehended Killian and Simpson without incident around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 1500 25th Street Boulevard S.E. and 15th Avenue S.E., near Walmart and Sam’s Club. They were taken to the Catawba County Detention Facility, where they were initially held without bond. However, both suspects have since been given a $100,000 bond each.

Their first appearances in District Court were scheduled for today (April 7) in Newton.
