HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Horry County on a slew of serious charges including attempted murder, armed robbery, and drug possession, according to public records.
Jabari Coffee was taken into custody on February 28 and is facing the following charges:
Sale or delivery of a pistol to an unlawful person
Possession of a weapon by certain unlawful persons
Armed robbery or robbery while armed with a deadly weapon
Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
Attempted murder
Possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine or cocaine base
The charges stem from an investigation that began on January 23, when Horry County police responded to a report of a shooting victim being dropped off near 4000 East Highway 9 in the Little River area. A witness reportedly found the victim on the ground and drove them to the hospital.
On February 28, a traffic stop related to a window tint violation was conducted in the Longs community near Castlers Heights Road and Jeff Waters Circle. Officers detected the smell of marijuana, prompting a probable cause search of the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle, authorities found a small bag containing multi-colored pills and a rock-like substance, which later tested positive as methamphetamine.
Public records confirm that Jabari Coffee is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center with no bail set at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
