GLADEWATER, Texas — Izabel Osteen, 28, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a truck during a child custody exchange and briefly escaping police custody.
According to police, Osteen entered a 2020 Ford F-150 during the exchange at North Main Street and East Shepperd Drive without the owner’s consent. A struggle ensued, causing the victim to be partially dragged and sustain minor injuries, for which they were treated at a local hospital.
The truck was tracked to multiple locations in Longview using vehicle-tracking technology. Gregg County deputies eventually recovered the vehicle and detained Osteen, who was booked into the Gladewater City Jail for robbery.
The next day, while being transferred to the Gregg County Jail, Osteen briefly ran from authorities on foot. She was apprehended on the 200 block of Eleanore Street and charged with escape from custody.
“The Gladewater Police Department thanks the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office and assisting agencies for their swift response and professionalism in apprehending the suspect and recovering the stolen vehicle,” said Police Chief Kyle Ready.
