BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo woman has been sentenced to prison for fatally striking a pedestrian with her vehicle.

Iyanna R. Scott, 22, was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Michael Keane said the incident occurred on May 19, 2024, around 5:30 p.m. Scott had driven to a car wash on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga with two male passengers when she began arguing with one of the men.

When the dispute turned physical, both men walked away toward Union Road. Scott then followed them in her Hyundai Elantra and intentionally struck 21-year-old Demario Patterson before fleeing. Patterson was taken to ECMC, where he later died from his injuries.

The vehicle was later located on Briscoe Avenue in Buffalo.

Scott pleaded guilty in November to one count of first-degree manslaughter.
