HARTFORD, Conn. — A Secaucus, New Jersey man, Ixavier Holman, 34, has been sentenced to three years of probation, including six months of home detention, for his role in a mail theft scheme valued at over $1.5 million.
According to federal prosecutors, Holman used stolen USPS keys to access blue collection mailboxes in New Haven and West Haven. He targeted the post offices at 95 Fountain Street in New Haven, 589 Campbell Avenue, and 844 Jones Hill Road in West Haven.
Between December 2022 and June 2023, Holman made at least eight theft attempts, stealing thousands of checks and money orders from the mail. His operation ended on June 12, 2023, when he was caught in the act trying to steal mail from the Fountain Street post office. He was found carrying two stolen USPS collection box keys.
A search of Holman’s residence uncovered over 3,000 pieces of stolen mail, USPS mail collection bins, a credit card reader, and an embosser. The stolen items were sorted by bank, with a total value exceeding $1.5 million.
Holman pleaded guilty to mail theft on November 20, 2024, and was sentenced in July 2025.
