Police in the Itanagar Capital Region have arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations, recovering a total of 34.83 grams of heroin valued at over Rs 2 lakh.
In the first case, Asadul Islam (19) was apprehended from the market area in Nirjuli on Thursday, said Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo. Police recovered 13 vials containing heroin weighing approximately 16.49 grams.
In a second operation, police in Naharlagun arrested Karjo Bedi (21) of Lekhi village for allegedly peddling drugs on Saturday. During the search, authorities recovered two vials containing 2.30 grams of heroin from him. A subsequent search of his rented room led to the recovery of 14 additional vials weighing 16.04 grams, according to Naharlagun ICR SP Nyelam Nega.
Officials confirmed that legal action has been initiated against both accused under relevant narcotics laws, and the operations underscore the police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
