In a major success for the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, the Itanagar Police arrested a habitual drug-peddling couple and seized 13.20 grams of heroin from their possession on February 4, 2025.
The police operation, conducted after receiving credible intelligence, involved a team led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo (OC PS Itanagar) and several officials, including Inspector Takhe Tasso, SI Kentar Tacha, and others. They raided a location near Raj Bhawan Road where Tadar Naham (24), a resident of Langloth village in Kurung Kumey District, was found with the narcotic substance, packed in 10 plastic vials.
Both Tadar Naham and his partner, Kenna Perme (24), from Mebo village, were arrested in connection with the operation. The couple, who admitted to using and trafficking heroin for the past three years, confessed to sourcing the drugs from Assam and selling them to users in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) for profit.
A case has been filed under Section 21(a)/27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the suspects have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
The operation has been widely praised by Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, SP Itanagar, who commended the efforts of the team involved. The Itanagar Capital Police, under its “DAWN” mission, continues to prioritize the eradication of drug abuse and trafficking in the region, with ongoing public encouragement to report suspicious activities.
