Isiah Leblanc, Ashya Red Bear Arrested in North Platte for Stolen Jeep

Automated license plate reader helps locate stolen vehicle from South Dakota

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Two individuals were arrested in North Platte after an automated license plate reader helped police locate a stolen Jeep originally reported missing in South Dakota.

On Thursday, September 4, the North Platte Police Department received an alert from its automated license plate reader system indicating a stolen 2015 Jeep Laredo had been detected on Newberry Access Road near Interstate 80.

Officers responded to the location and made contact with Isiah Leblanc, 25, and Ashya Red Bear, 45. A records check confirmed the Jeep had been reported stolen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 1.

Both Leblanc and Red Bear were arrested on charges of:

Possession of stolen property (Class IIA felony)

Theft by receiving stolen property (Class II misdemeanor)

Additionally, Isiah Leblanc had an active warrant from South Dakota for parole violation.

The pair were booked into the Lincoln County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000, ten percent payable.
