The Sonepat district police claimed a breakthrough in four robbery and snatching cases with the arrest of two men, recovering a motorcycle, three mobile phones, and Rs2,000 in cash from their possession.
According to SI Sandeep Kumar, in-charge of CIA-1, the arrested men have been identified as:
Ishan, a native of Kot Mohalla, currently living in Kachha Camp
Saurabh, from Mahavir Colony, now residing in Sector 6, Sonepat
The duo was apprehended from Nizampur, Sector 18 following a tip-off. During interrogation, they admitted to four crimes:
March 11, 2024 – Snatched a phone from a commuter near Sector 11, FIR lodged by Sushil at Chandnibagh police station
May 20, 2024 – Stole a phone from a labourer near Mehrana village
July 23, 2024 – Snatched a bag containing Rs20,000, ATM & PAN cards from a youth on Nimbri-Bapoli Road
July 28, 2024 – Robbed another individual of a bag with cash and documents in Sector 25
SI Sandeep Kumar revealed that both Ishan and Saurabh are drug addicts and committed these crimes to support their addiction. Both men have a criminal history: Saurabh has three prior cases registered against him, while Ishan has two.
They were produced in court on Sunday and have been sent to judicial custody.
