Two men were arrested in Pinellas County, Florida, after threatening a possible mass shooting, following a tip received from the FBI.
Authorities say the investigation began when a woman reported threatening messages she saw on her boyfriend’s Instagram feed. The FBI verified the posts and alerted the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, which obtained a search warrant on the social media accounts of Isaiah Oglesby and James Goolsby.
During the investigation, officials found messages between the two men discussing plans for an attack. Oglesby’s messages included statements such as, “Wanna plan an attack?” and, “It better be a bloodbath of every corrupt politician in Capital Hill.” The posts also contained imagery referencing previous mass shootings and expressed admiration for past shooters.
Both men were arrested and charged with threatening communications and threats of a mass shooting.
Isaiah Oglesby appeared in Pinellas County Court and was given a $150,000 bond. If released, he must wear a GPS monitor and is subject to a Risk Protection Order, barring him from possessing weapons or devices that could be used in a mass casualty event.
James Goolsby also appeared in court and was assigned a $200,000 bond with similar conditions, including GPS monitoring if released.
The arrests highlight the impact of vigilant community reporting and cooperation between the FBI and local law enforcement in preventing potential tragedies.
