Authorities in California have arrested a man in connection with the killing of a 34-year-old mother whose body was discovered inside a garage while her children were found alone in the home.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 8:03 a.m. Friday to the 6500 block of Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms after receiving a report about a Toyota Tacoma blocking the gate of a nearby fire station.
The investigation led deputies to a residence in the 74900 block of Aladdin Drive, where they discovered two children inside the home without supervision. Shortly afterward, deputies located their mother, Jessica Phillips, dead inside the garage.
Homicide detectives determined that Phillips had been murdered and launched an investigation. Authorities later identified Isaac Matthew Angel, 34, the children’s father, as the primary suspect.
Deputies located Angel walking near the intersection of Sunrise Drive and Araby Avenue later that morning and took him into custody. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held without bail.
Officials said the investigation into Phillips’ death remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
