LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — Isaac Honigschmidt, the 18-year-old Lincoln teen accused of helping his girlfriend, Sallie Gilmer, murder her father, was sentenced on Friday.

Court records reveal that Honigschmidt was sentenced to 20 to 30 years for one count of aiding and abetting the use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and one count of tampering with evidence. Honigschmidt pled no contest to the charges earlier in January.

The crime took place in October 2022 when Gilmer, then 15, and Honigschmidt were arrested at the Lodge Apartments near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway. Police discovered the body of 70-year-old Jessie Gilmer Jr., who had multiple stab wounds, after Gilmer contacted authorities.

Initially, Gilmer claimed she found her father’s body when she arrived home from school, but investigators later revealed that the two had plotted to kill him. Honigschmidt was accused of driving Gilmer to the scene, providing her with a knife, and driving her away once the murder was carried out.

Both Gilmer and Honigschmidt were charged as adults in the case. Gilmer was sentenced to 40 to 60 years in prison for second-degree murder.
