In a major crackdown, Haryana Police arrested a notorious cattle smuggler, identified as Irsad, after a brief exchange of fire in Palwal district on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The 30-year-old accused, a resident of Kot village in Palwal, was injured during the encounter and later taken into custody, officials said.
According to police, Irsad has a long criminal history, with 16 cases registered against him across Nuh and Palwal districts. These include serious charges like attempt to murder, cow slaughter, animal cruelty, and assault on police personnel.
The police team had launched a targeted operation to apprehend Irsad, given his repeated involvement in cattle smuggling and violent offenses. The operation turned hostile when the accused opened fire, prompting retaliation from the police. He was overpowered after sustaining injuries.
Authorities confirmed that Irsad is being treated under police supervision and will be presented before the court once medically cleared.
The case is part of Haryana’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal cattle trade and associated violent crimes.
