Islamabad, Pakistan — Authorities have arrested Irfan Nazir, a suspected fraudster behind a major overseas job scam operation that duped countless Pakistani citizens with false promises of employment in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Irfan Nazir defrauded multiple families by posing as a job placement agent. One family alone lost more than 10 million rupees after being guaranteed immediate overseas jobs that never materialized.
Fake Promises and Vanished Funds
Nazir allegedly offered fake employment packages, collected large sums of money, and then vanished without delivering any job offers or travel documentation. Victims not only suffered financial losses, but also endured emotional distress after investing their hopes and savings in these fake opportunities.
Fugitive Captured After Joint Efforts
After receiving complaints, the FIA and Islamabad police initiated a coordinated investigation. Nazir, who had gone into hiding, was tracked and arrested thanks to swift law enforcement cooperation. Authorities have now launched a full investigation to expose the entire scam network and identify possible accomplices.
Public Urged to Beware of Job Frauds
The FIA urged citizens to exercise caution when approached with overseas job offers. Officials emphasized the importance of verifying recruitment agencies through legitimate, government-approved platforms and avoiding unauthorized agents or social media ads.
Nationwide Crackdown on Employment Scams
The arrest marks an important milestone in Pakistan’s wider campaign to combat fake job schemes. Authorities are also working with international partners to prevent such fraud and strengthen the regulation of foreign employment channels.
Citizens are strongly advised to report suspicious offers immediately to help curb this rising trend and prevent further exploitation.
