TEHRAN, IRAN — Iranian blogger Donya Hosseini, also known online as Donya Azad, has been held without contact with her family for 12 days following her arrest in Tehran on June 16, 2025, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Hosseini, 37, originally from southern Khuzestan province, was detained at her residence by security forces. Shortly after her arrest, she managed to make one brief phone call to her family confirming her transfer to Evin Prison, one of Iran’s most notorious detention centers.
A family source revealed that Hosseini has not been able to communicate with relatives since an Israeli missile strike targeted Evin Prison earlier this week.
Previously, Hosseini was arrested on August 12, 2023, when authorities confiscated her electronic devices and handwritten materials, as reported by Hengaw.
Details regarding the charges against Hosseini, the reason for her arrest, and her current health status or exact location remain undisclosed.
Human rights advocates have expressed serious concerns over her prolonged isolation and the lack of transparency from Iranian authorities.
