On July 1, Iranian intelligence agents arrested 43-year-old environmental activist Malak Farajbeigi at her home in Bukan. According to reports, approximately twenty agents forcibly entered her residence, detained her, and intimidated family members during the raid.
The agents also confiscated Farajbeigi’s personal belongings before transferring her to a detention facility run by the Intelligence Department in Urmia. Since her arrest, she has been denied any contact with her family, and her current condition and whereabouts remain unknown, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights stated.
Authorities have yet to disclose any charges against Farajbeigi or the reasons behind her detention. Known for her civil and environmental activism, she also cares for her elderly mother.
