Interstate Burglars Arrested for Theft at Kapu Divakar Shetty’s Home

Valuables worth Rs19 lakh stolen, police ongoing probe in Tamil Nadu

Police have arrested two interstate burglars in connection with a theft that occurred in January at the residence of Congress leader Kapu Divakar Shetty.

The incident took place while Divakar Shetty was traveling to Mumbai with his family. Taking advantage of their absence, the burglars broke into the house located at Kothalkatte in Uliyaragoli village.

The thieves allegedly stole valuables worth Rs19.05 lakh, including silver items from the prayer room, 30 grams of melted gold, a Rado watch, and cash kept in the master bedroom cupboard. Before leaving, they reportedly tampered with the CCTV cameras and took away the DVR. A case was registered at Kapu Police Station following the incident.

During the investigation, police apprehended interstate burglar Esakki Raja (28) from Pattayam, Tirukurungudi, Tamil Nadu, along with his associate Nambi Raja (23). Efforts are ongoing to trace three other accused from Tamil Nadu and recover the stolen property. Police also confirmed that cases have been registered against the accused in multiple stations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The operation was led by Kapu Circle Inspector Azmath Ali G, along with Kapu PSI Tejaswi T.I. and Shubhakar. Police personnel including Mohammed Rafiq, Narayan, Mohan Chandra, Raghu, ASI Rajesh, Dayananda Prabhu, Anwar Ali, and staff from the Kapu Circle Office participated in the successful operation.
