Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu – An Inspector of Police attached to Ramanatham police station has been suspended after allegations surfaced that she recovered money from a theft accused and kept it for herself.

The accused, Prabhakaran, 39, from Perambalur district, was arrested on September 8 for allegedly stealing a 3-sovereign gold chain from a 60-year-old woman. The theft reportedly took place after Prabhakaran offered the woman a lift on his motorcycle.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and apprehended Prabhakaran within hours of the incident. While Inspector Brindha recovered the gold chain and Rs75,000 in cash from him, she reportedly did not report the details of the seized cash.

Following this, a complaint was filed, and Brindha was suspended pending further investigation.
