A special team of Jodhpur police arrested Indra Bishnoi (27) and her husband Narpat Ram (29) on Sunday in connection with the 2021 Rajasthan Police Sub-inspector (SI) Recruitment Examination scam. The arrests were made following an investigation into the use of a dummy candidate in the exam, which resulted in Indra Bishnoi sitting for the test on behalf of another person for a payment of Rs15 lakh.

Indra Bishnoi, a resident of Kheme Ka Kuan in Jodhpur, had been recruited to sit the exam for Harkhu Jat, who was struggling academically. According to the police, Harkhu met Indra at a library and, due to her academic difficulties, asked her to take the exam on her behalf. Indra, known for her strong academic background, agreed to help, having previously cleared the RAS preliminary exam.

After Harkhu passed the exam, Narpat Ram, Indra’s husband, allegedly demanded Rs15 lakh for facilitating the scam. Indra later told authorities that she had attempted the exam herself but failed. She also had previously reached the interview stage in the 2018 SI recruitment but was not selected. Attempts at the RAS exam were also unsuccessful for her.

Both Indra and Narpat Ram were apprehended by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and are currently in police custody. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional individuals involved in the broader fraud network.
