In a shocking act of street violence, three men were arrested on Monday for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old eatery owner, Lekhraj, after a heated confrontation over public spitting. The incident occurred late Sunday night in the Vijay Nagar area of Indore.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Amarendra Singh, the victim was returning with friends after shutting his roadside dhaba when the fatal encounter occurred.
“One of the accused, while riding a motorcycle, spat gutkha on the road just as Lekhraj was passing by. When Lekhraj objected, a verbal spat turned into a deadly scuffle,” Singh said.
The accused — Raj Ahirwar (19), Pawan Rajak (20), and Jagdish Sisodia (33) — allegedly attacked Lekhraj with a knife. Despite efforts by his friends, Lekhraj succumbed to his injuries before medical help could arrive.
Police have recovered the weapon and motorcycle used in the crime. All three accused have been arrested, and a detailed investigation is underway.
Authorities have condemned the senseless act and assured the public that strict legal action will follow.
