The Indore Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler in connection with the seizure of illegal brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore, officials said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya identified the accused as Akash Gokhale (21), a resident of Dhar Road. His arrest followed crucial inputs provided by Seema Nath, who was recently apprehended with 516 grams of brown sugar from her residence in Nath Mohalla, Ahirkhedi.
During interrogation, Seema Nath revealed Akash’s role in supplying and selling drugs in the city. Police said Akash is addicted to narcotics and has been actively involved in drug peddling. He also has a criminal background, with around six previous cases registered against him.
Akash Gokhale has been booked under Sections 8/21 and 8/29 of the NDPS Act, the officer added. Further investigation is underway to identify other links in the drug supply chain.
