The Indore Crime Branch arrested two men in separate drug-related cases, seizing narcotics worth over Rs 1.1 lakh.
In the first case, the team was conducting routine checks near the railway signal office on MR 4 Road when they noticed a man on a white scooter carrying a backpack. The man, identified as Chirag Kushwah, a resident of Dwarkapuri, appeared nervous and attempted to flee but was apprehended. During questioning, Chirag admitted to buying MD at low prices and selling it to habitual users in Indore to fund his drug addiction. Police seized 10.10 grams of MD from him and registered a case under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act.
In a separate operation, Akram Khan, a resident of Nimbahera, Rajasthan, who had been absconding since a previous brown sugar seizure, was arrested. Akram confessed to purchasing brown sugar at low prices and selling it at higher rates to habitual drug users for profit. Police investigations revealed that he is a habitual offender with three prior criminal cases in Rajasthan.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed that the arrests reflect the Crime Branch’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and habitual abuse in Indore. Investigations into both cases are ongoing to trace suppliers and broader networks.
