Nungambakkam police have arrested Imthias Khan (47) of Sembium and Musir Ahamed (43) of Triplicane for a series of jewellery shop thefts in Chennai. The duo targeted at least 20 shops, stealing gold rings by diverting the attention of shopkeepers.
Investigators from the Nungambakkam Crime Investigation Police recovered 18 gold rings weighing a total of 54 grams, stolen from multiple locations. The thefts came to light after Rohan, owner of a jewellery shop on Valluvarkottam High Road, lodged a complaint regarding missing rings.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to determine whether they were involved in additional thefts across the city.
