Iman Abdul Arrested for Threatening NYC Jewish High School
27-year-old charged after posting school location online
BROOKLYN, NY – Iman Abdul, 27, has been arrested and charged after allegedly making terroristic threats against Leon Goldstein High School for the Sciences, a Brooklyn public school attended by Jewish students.
According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), Abdul posted a threatening message on social media Thursday afternoon, including a screenshot of the school’s location from Google Maps. The now-deactivated Instagram post allegedly read:
“If anyone needs a public school in NYC to attack for whatever reason… Lexus driving Israhell [sic] loving Zionisits [sic] all attend here.”
Abdul faces multiple charges, including making a terroristic threat, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated harassment, and making a threat of mass harm. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment.
Jewish advocacy group Stop Antisemitism and activist Uri Cohen shared screenshots of the post and Abdul’s photo on X (formerly Twitter), calling for full prosecution.
“This isn’t just dangerous. It’s evil,” said Tova Plaut, a Jewish activist and NYC Department of Education staffer. “A NYC school was publicly marked for attack simply because of its Jewish population. I am outraged and horrified.”
Amid speculation about Abdul’s political ties, the campaign for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) condemned the antisemitic remarks and firmly denied claims that Abdul had worked for them, calling the threats “appalling.”
The investigation is ongoing, and Abdul remains in custody as legal proceedings continue.
