SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. — The South Pasadena Police Department announced two separate arrests in late December following reports of burglary and theft within the community.

On Dec. 23, 2025, police reported the arrest of Guillermo Ibarra, 26, in connection with an attempted residential burglary. Officers were dispatched around 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 22 to the 400 block of Alta Vista Avenue after a resident returned home and encountered an alleged burglar inside the property. Following a brief confrontation, the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.

A coordinated search of South Pasadena and nearby jurisdictions led officers to locate Ibarra in the 5700 block of Huntington Drive North in Los Angeles. He was arrested for residential burglary and transported to the Inmate Reception Center. A second male detained with Ibarra was found to have outstanding warrants from the Alhambra Police Department and was released to their custody.

In a separate incident, police announced the arrest of David Aguilar, 40, an unhoused individual from Los Angeles, on Dec. 30, 2025, for theft-related offenses. The arrest followed multiple calls received around 9:52 p.m. the previous night reporting a man committing package thefts, prowling, and trespassing near Floral Park Terrace and Hermosa Street.

Officers located Aguilar after he fled on foot, using both air support and ground units. He was apprehended without incident, and a stolen package was recovered and returned to its owner. Aguilar was also held on a felony probation warrant.

Both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
